Why Climate-Controlled Storage Matters After a Loss Event

Contents that have been through a fire, water, or mold event are already stressed. Materials that have been wet, smoke-exposed, or contaminated are more vulnerable to secondary damage during storage. Uncontrolled temperature and humidity can cause additional warping, mold growth, corrosion, and deterioration even after the initial cleaning and treatment is complete.

Cantt Restoration stores contents in a climate-controlled environment specifically because the items in our care have already been through something. We maintain conditions that protect what has already been cleaned and treated. The goal is for items to come back to you in the same condition they left the cleaning process, not worse from sitting in an uncontrolled space.

We do not share our facility's public address. For access, scheduling, or inventory questions, call us directly at (903) 251-9525.

Climate-controlled. Documented. Accounted for. Nothing disappears.

How Storage Works: Inventory, Tracking, and Return

Everything on Your Dedicated Inventory

Every item that enters storage is on your dedicated inventory. Not a shared list. Not commingled with other clients' property. Your inventory was built at pack-out: each item photographed, described, and given a condition note. That inventory follows the items from your home to our facility and back again.

Climate-controlled storage facility with inventoried contents carefully organized and documented

No Commingling

Your property is stored in a designated section of our facility. It is not mixed with other clients' belongings at any point. This matters for accountability and for the return process. When items come back to you, they come back from your inventory, not from a general pool.

Inventory Access Throughout

You have access to your inventory record throughout the storage period. If you need to know what is in storage, you can ask and receive a current inventory report. The record is maintained from pack-out to return.

Return Delivery

When your structure is ready, we schedule a return delivery. Items are returned room by room, matching the original room-by-room pack-out organization. Each item is checked against the original inventory during return. You verify everything is accounted for. The return is documented with the same care as the pack-out.

How Long Can Items Be Stored?

Storage duration is tied to the timeline of the structural mitigation and restoration project. We do not impose arbitrary time limits on storage. A structural project in East Texas may take weeks or months depending on scope, contractor availability, and other factors outside our control.

We communicate about storage timeline as the project progresses. If your project timeline changes significantly, we will discuss what that means for the storage arrangement. The priority is that your belongings are in a safe, controlled environment for as long as the structural project requires.

What About Items That Were Not Restorable?

During the cleaning and treatment process, some items may be determined to be non-restorable. These items are not disposed of without your knowledge. Non-restorable items are documented with photographs and a written record before any disposal. That documentation is part of your project file.

For questions about personal property that cannot be restored and how that relates to your insurance coverage, contact your insurance company, adjuster, or agent directly. Cantt Restoration documents the physical condition. Coverage determinations are between you and your insurer.

Contents Storage for Commercial Properties

Commercial properties generate larger contents volumes. Office furniture, equipment, inventory, records, and tenant property all require tracking and storage during commercial mitigation events. Cantt Restoration handles commercial contents storage with the same inventory discipline as residential, scaled to the volume and complexity of the commercial event.

For large commercial events, see our Commercial and Large Loss page.
