An East Texas Story: A Mineola Family and the Box of Irreplaceable Photos

A Mineola family had a basement-level storage area flood during a heavy rain event. Among the items submerged was a storage box containing family photo albums spanning several decades and documents including birth certificates and property records.

The box had been underwater for approximately 18 hours before Cantt Restoration responded. Our team immediately separated the wet photo albums and documents, placed them in sealed bags, and arranged freeze-drying through our contents restoration facility. The family had assumed every photo was gone.

Through freeze-drying, the majority of photographs were recovered. Some showed water damage at the edges. Most were intact. The documents were also recovered. The family had items they believed were permanently lost.

Nothing disappears until it is declared gone without attempt. We document everything and attempt restoration before making that determination.

5. Storage during repairs: Items remain in climate-controlled storage while the structure is restored.
