Overton, TX Disaster Restoration Services: Here When It Matters

Water damage, fire damage, mold. These situations do not wait for business hours, and neither do we. When something goes wrong in your Overton home or business, the first call matters. We answer every call directly, and we move.

Overton sits in the Piney Woods of Rusk County, where the soil is a mix of sandy loam over clay and the annual rainfall runs well above 40 inches. That combination means water moves fast on the surface and has nowhere to go when the ground is saturated. We follow ANSI/IICRC S500, S520, and S740 standards for water damage mitigation in Overton, mold remediation, and fire and smoke remediation.

Cantt Restoration responds to Overton from our Arp (Smith County, TX) headquarters, typically on-site in approximately 30 to 35 minutes from your call. Rusk County is part of our East Texas territory. We know how homes here are built, what the soil does during heavy rains, and how the oil-era housing stock ages under East Texas humidity.

What We Handle

Water Damage Mitigation in Overton

Rusk County sits in the East Texas Pineywoods, where sandy loam topsoil drains faster than the underlying clay subsoil can absorb. That mismatch produces surface flooding and subsurface moisture infiltration that can saturate foundations and crawl spaces before a homeowner notices. We respond to all damage types: burst pipes, appliance failures, storm surge, and smoke contamination.

Water Damage Mitigation

Emergency water extraction, structural drying, moisture mapping, and dehumidification for Overton homes and businesses. We follow ANSI/IICRC S500 standards. The sandy loam over clay soil profile in Rusk County accelerates surface runoff during heavy rain events, directing water toward foundations before drainage infrastructure can respond. Homes near low-lying areas along Sabine River tributaries face elevated flood risk.

Fire, Smoke & Soot Remediation Near Overton

Soot removal, smoke odor elimination, HEPA air filtration, and structural stabilization following ANSI/IICRC S740 standards. Overton has a significant stock of housing built during and after the 1930s oil boom. Older structures from that era often carry lead-based paint and may contain other hazardous materials requiring assessment before remediation work begins. We assess thoroughly before we start.

Mold Remediation

Mold (what restoration professionals classify as microbial growth) is a well-documented secondary risk throughout the Piney Woods region of East Texas. High annual rainfall combined with warm temperatures and the humidity that follows storms creates ideal conditions for microbial growth in crawl spaces, wall cavities, and attics of older Overton homes. We follow ANSI/IICRC S520 standards. Containment, removal, and documentation included. We assess on arrival.

Asbestos & Lead Abatement

Overton experienced rapid growth during the 1930s East Texas oil boom, and much of that housing stock is still standing. Structures built between the 1930s and 1970s may contain asbestos in pipe insulation, floor tiles, and roofing materials, as well as lead-based paint on interior and exterior surfaces. These materials require licensed abatement before mitigation work can proceed safely. We coordinate abatement through licensed, state-certified specialists and serve as your single point of contact throughout.

About Overton, TX (Rusk County)

Overton is a small city in Rusk County, Texas, with a population of approximately 2,275 according to the 2020 census. The city was platted in 1873 and named after Major Frank Overton, an early settler who donated land for the original town site. Two railroad lines, the Henderson and Overton Branch Railroad and the International-Great Northern, passed through the town and drove early commercial growth according to the City of Overton.

Overton is historically significant as one of the towns at the center of the East Texas Oil Field, discovered in 1930 when wildcatter C. M. "Dad" Joiner struck oil on what became known as the Daisy Bradford No. 3 well in nearby Rusk County. Overton's own residents helped fund the drilling. When the well came in, the town's population exploded from around 426 to nearly 4,500 by 1936, according to city records. Churches, schools, a refinery, and Hubbard College were all built during this boom period. Much of that housing stock remains occupied today.

Rusk County is in the Piney Woods ecoregion of East Texas, characterized by pine and hardwood forests and numerous streams. The Rusk County Groundwater Conservation District describes the county's soils as predominantly sandy loam with underlying clay, sitting on alternating sequences of unconsolidated sands and clays. About 11 percent of the county lies on nearly level flood plains with slow-draining soils. Cantt Restoration responds to Overton from our Arp headquarters, typically arriving in approximately 30 to 35 minutes. When you call (903) 251-9525, you reach our team directly.

Not necessarily, and we would encourage you not to throw anything away before we have had a chance to look at it. Mitigation is the process of stopping damage, stabilizing the structure, removing moisture, soot, smoke, or microbial growth, and protecting the property from further loss. Cantt handles mitigation and remediation. Reconstruction (rebuilding walls, replacing flooring) is a separate scope of work performed by a general contractor. We will help you understand the distinction when we assess your property.

Mold (what restoration professionals classify as microbial growth) should be taken seriously and addressed promptly. We follow ANSI/IICRC S520 standards for mold remediation. The right response depends on the extent and type of growth. We assess this when we arrive. Call us and we will walk you through it.

No. Cantt Restoration is an independent company based in East Texas. Every team member is someone we hired and trained. When you call, you reach us directly, not a national dispatch center.

When you call us, we start documenting the loss immediately. Photographs, moisture readings, scope of work, and a timeline of what was done. We share that documentation with your adjuster and are available to answer their questions throughout the process. We do not manage your claim, negotiate coverage, or act as a public adjuster. Those decisions remain between you, your adjuster, and your agent.
